Live Free Tip No. 2 – The Invitation

Loneliness has been revealed to be just as damaging to our health as smoking. As a community of Christians, we may think we are exempt from this reality, but truth be told, loneliness can creep in even when we’re standing in a crowded room. That’s because Loneliness is not about the quantity of people in our lives but more about the quality of people in our lives. We yearn for deep connection, to be truly known and truly seen.

60 Minutes recently did a piece on the devstating effects of loneliness. In an interview with William Shatner, the presenter asks him what his advice would be if someone who is lonely was watching. William Shatner responds:

“Do something for somebody. That’s my advice. That’s what I would do. Do something for somebody else. For me that’s a way of avoiding loneliness."

And we think that’s pretty great advice.

This Live Free Tip is about battling loneliness the Willian Shatner way by inviting someone to dinner or a coffee who you would like to get to know better. And if they aren’t free, ask the next person, and so on.

And if you aren’t someone who is feeling lonely, then invite someone to dinner or a coffee who you would like to get to know better. This particular Live Free Tip works both ways. The point is to combat Loneliness by taking ownership and action.
